On the 17th day of #Richmas and with 8 days to go...
We celebrate doing things...
The Hard Way. https://twitter.com/brendongale25/status/1319998027428327424
The 2020 AFL season was a season like no other, and the challenges faced by the premier team, due to the restrictions imposed during the pandemic, were substantial. Richmond, the reigning premier, started the season slowly and opened to no crowds. And it was weird.
Players watching Cotch get interviewed after the win.
Social distanced interviews became the new normal.

Next thing we knew footy was off. Postponed.

"The strength and support of the Tiger Army gives us hope and confidence we will find a way through." Peggy and Benny.
It was footy off and life on. Players went back home, picked up trades, studied, worked in the family businesses. We were asked to stay safe and #StayHome
We couldn’t see our family and friends and people we’ve never met all of sudden were on the front line. And kudos to all of them, those who have worked throughout this pandemic, to all those essential workers we salute you 🙌🏼
We saw players dismantle the club equipment, depart the club and build DIY gyms at home. We saw a lot of wholesome farm content and saw Dimma working out of his lounge room, study, cupboards etc. Honestly no one puts Dimma in a cupboard.
Then we got the call up footy was back. Training in small groups. Then bigger groups. No contact, some contact.
It seemed like forever and then the group could train as one.
Footy was back.
The players knelt in solidarity for #BlackLivesMatter
We played Collingwood and came back late to draw the game.
Hawks were way too good at the G.
Saints were too good.
Injuries came. Nank, Prestia. Dastbury.
Talk of hubs.
We beat Melbourne then hub life began.
Planes and hubs became the norm. We all sat at home watching flight radar to see if Tom Lynch would reach the hub in time.
We hubbed on the GC and we seemed to like footy in QLD.
Wins against Sydney and North.
More planes to play and lose to GWS.
Footy festival started with a win against the Bulldogs, Brisbane, a quick turnaround and a loss to Port, bouncing back against the Suns, winning Dreamtime in Darwin, wins against the Eagles, Freo, Cats, Crows.
Soldo’s ACL 💔
We hit October winning but with a few speed humps along the way. Injuries, on and off field incidents took front and centre and the media tried to chip away at the club’s connectedness hoping to find a weakness. Lynch’s hammy kept him out. The Lions won the 1st final.
We would have to take the hard road.
A renewed & hopeful StKilda side.
Port at home.
100 days away from being home.
We were ready for the fight.
Anywhere, anytime.
Shedda, Prestia, Bachar, Lynch all back together at Port’s hostile home ground.
It was tough, it was tight and it was one of the all time wins https://fb.watch/2pIwLJIh3O/
Unbloodybelievable.
We were through to our 3rd GF in 4 years.
The palpitations watching the replay are still very real.
This was a season where the odds weren’t in our favour but somehow we made it to the GF and we won.
A shout out to everyone who has been in lockdown, unable to connect with friends, family, lost jobs, businesses and been unable to leave their homes.
Embracing ‘Sisu’, an inherent characteristic of the Finnish people. It is a concept of strength, perseverance in a task that for some may seem crazy to undertake, almost hopeless.
This was a season like no other.
We prevailed.
Strong & Bold.
We did it...
The Hard Way.
