As we move into the vaccine stages of the #COVID19 pandemic, it is important that we combat #vaccine hesitancy and #misinformation and continue to vigilantly follow public health guidelines. A few things you should know below. #COVID19 #SenCA
A great deal of care has been put into the creation of this #vaccine. It has been created with plenty of funding, scientific research & state-of-the-art technologies. It was not rushed. It just did not face the obstacles that many drug trials face because of its urgency.
This #vaccine is the result of an overabundance of testing. While some phase 3 clinical trials require 300-3000 participants, 43,000 people were involved in testing for the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. This is due to the many #COVID patients who participated in the testing trials.
An enormous amount of testing and research has resulted in this vaccine. Some of the #science was taken from other #vaccine developments which have been in trials for years. Many of these vaccines have not been made from scratch.
This week, #NovaScotia is receiving its first 1,950 #vaccines. The first round of vaccinations will be provided for long-term care residents & staff, frontline care workers and seniors in our communities.
Remember: it might be months before everyone receives a vaccination. We must continue to do our part to protect our communities by wearing a mask, washing our hands and social distancing. Let's continue to combat #misinformation and keep sharing #science.
