4. While the world fights a global #climatecrisis, #TransMountain adds fuel to the fire. Not only does it prevent Canada from reaching its climate goals, it also violates the land rights of Indigenous communities as it crosses over their unceded territories!
5. And in a world where biodiversity loss is a fact and over a million species are at risk of extinction, #TransMountain has every intention to destroy the natural habitats in the area.
7. In fact 'the proposed project involves clearing vegetation along the north bank of the Brunette River’. That means cutting down more trees although TMX's Vice-President #DavidSafari swore under oath after mid-September that they couldn't clear trees due to risk to fish.
8. #TransMountain is also trying to ignore ( https://apps.cer-rec.gc.ca/REGDOCS/Item/View/4031429) Burnaby by setting aside the city's tree bylaw by invoking "interjurisdictional immunity and/or federal paramountcy" because #Burnaby is apparently refusing to process a tree clearing permit application.
9. You can help #StopTMX and the tree cutting in Burnaby: follow the updates on @CoastProtectors and We, the Secwepemc & #TinyHouseWarriors (Facebook) and R.I.S.E. (Instagram) and amplify their contents. Thank you to all those holding the fort to bear witness.
10. Support them by demanding a #GreenRecovery that is #just and #inclusive to get us rid of these unnecessary polluting projects.
11. Pressure the #Trudeau government to back out from all new #fossilfuel projects including #TransMountain #GNLQuebec and #CoastalGazlink that stomple our rights to a healthy and safe future. Sign the petition > https://act.gp/37uo8oF
