K. Kade told that at first there were only K.Boss and her in the team. Then she asked K.Junior (her friend who always worked together with her in college) to join. Then one day K.Goy came to sit in the room and listening to them working together. She ended up joining the team.

K.Goy had worked with K.Boss in My Ambulance before. K.Kade said that although K.Goy joined the team later, she really helped a lot on making the script more perfect.

Screenwriting team & BKPP

K. Kade told that at first they planned to put high school & college life together in 5 EPs. Them they talked to producers (P‘Yong, P‘Ping) and they suggested that the story can be split to 2 parts - one for high school & one for college.

Design of supporting characters

Mod - someone who speaks out when friends fight so the viewers can understand what‘s happening in their group
Kai - softer, someone who tries to stop friends from fighting
Philip - someone that is close to Teh, Teh can say his feeling to

Bas & Tarn - third persons that no one will hate.

Bas - As Oh-aew‘s crush, someone that makes Oh-aew be able to talk to Teh about love as they are close friends

Tarn - to show that Teh has experienced love / kind of understand what love is/ show that Oh-aew isn‘t his first one

The team chose the location of the story - at first it was in Bangkok, but they still felt that it wasn‘t enough to portray - then they changed to Ayutthaya and it still wasn‘t right - they finally came up with Phuket because the multi-cultural environment and the sceneries.

Then they did a research about M6 students life - what should be the big goal for the characters. And it should be the national exam. They did further research which subject takes a big portion of the admission score. They found that English wasn’t big enough, unlike the 3rd lang

They wanted to put a big bet of M6 students life into the story. They chose the national exam of 3rd languages since it takes a big portion of the admission score to apply to Comm Arts schools. It‘s a big bet that if the characters do it well, they get admitted, otherwise failed.

K. Kade herself knows some basic French & Chinese language - together with the chosen location of story, Phuket - the team decided to go for Chinese.

(/me imagine if Teh & Oh-aew learning & speaking French, that would be also cool. haha)

Then they wanted to write the plot that Teh became a tutor for Oh-aew. That‘s why it was designed that Teh‘s family was a Thai-Chinese family so Teh was more advanced in Chinese lang enough to gave his all in for Oh-aew.

And for Oh-aew, K. Boss wanted to show more views of the ocean (since it‘s Phuket). He wanted some scenes on a ship. That‘s why Oh-aew was designed to be a person who traveled by a ship.

Pre-prod.: BKPP had to learn Chinese, BK had to learn how to sing Chinese opera

Production: Every team had to do lots of homework - storytelling, symbolism in each scenes

K. Kade said that it’s as if energy from screenwriting team was passed to every team. Everyone went all in.

K. Boss as the director was the one who set the direction for the cinematography. He also used some pictures from North Korea as reference - dark color, mainly dark green with some red color standing out. So the scenes were designed to have a person wearing red.

Teh got the second pick of admission offer - that‘s also intention of the team - to give Teh a big lesson of life - “The world sometimes is not that kind to us”.

At first the team designed that Teh‘s family‘s business is selling coconuts. Thay changed to selling Hokkien Mee but still wanted to do the scene of Teh giving coconut to Oh-aew. So they made Oh-aew a person who likes coconut, and later extended to Oh-aew‘s scent of coconut.

Q: Why did Oh-aew post the pic of him wearing bra on IG knowing that he had many followers?

A: It was a reckless moment of a heartbreaking person. He didn’t think abt it. He was just thinking abt what he‘d done wrong - why Teh couldn’t like him. (+)

He was thinking if he would look better as a girl and just posted the pic. Then he found the answer that he wanted to be himself and deleted it.

K. Kade used Kimura Takuya as reference for Koh Hoon character - talk less, but kind, be able to take care of his family.

Two main functions of Koh Hoon character - 1) being compared with Teh and 2) being Teh‘s safe zone

Part 2 - script is written by a new team, but K. Kade is also part of this new team.
