What questions would you ask an attorney at Tesla about how they view the liability of their self driving tech?
My wife is an attorney and currently doing a live training on autonomous vehicle liability. The next speaker is in-house council for Tesla.
So far the speakers have been very smart and confirmed what the $TSLA community has speculated. Self Driving technology comes with the risk of liability. This scares GM and other established companies.
I believe Tesla will see this as an opportunity. They can mitigate risk with scale. If their self-driving tech is X% safer than a human driver and they deliver millions of miles per month, then their profit opportunity is MUCH greater than any liability risk.
This directly compares to @waymo and GM's Cruze. Much smaller data sets, geo-fenced markets, very expensive hardware. All of this adds up to a much small opportunity, thus liability can and will eat into the business.
Any thoughts on this, @TheTeslaShow or @CathieDWood? You're the robo-taxi experts.
