I (and my coffee) are listening in on a teleconference about distributing the vaccine here in NE #Wisconsin. My notes coming soon.

Prevea Heath Pres. Dr. Ashok Rai says about 49k vaccines are being handed out across the state.

Landrum adds, “There will be enough vaccine for everyone that wants it.”
Dr. Rai breaks down how the vaccine works. He says there’s no live virus associated with the #COVID19 vaccine. He says the vaccine creates a protein to recognize foreign cells, like COVID, and helps your body build up a defense to it.
Dr. Landrum tags on saying the vaccines’ side effects are pretty in line with other vaccinations: a sore arm where the shot was, maybe drowsiness.
Some important timeline details:
You can still contract #COVID19 after the first shot.
The second shot comes 21 days after the first one.
You’re not protected until about two weeks after the second shot.

Doctors say there’s no evidence that says you can’t transmit #covid19 when vaccinated so health leaders encourage people to keep following CDC guidelines.

Both doctors addressed concerns that the vaccine was rushed. Here’s the explantation they offered: Government funding made it possible for multiple steps to making the vaccine were happening at the same time.
As far as how effective the vaccine is, Dr. Rai says the vaccine has 95% efficacy. That does mean there’s a small chance you can contract the virus after vaccination but the likelihood of severe symptoms is very small.
It’s open to Q&A for the media now, I asked if there’s a link between Bel’s Palsy and the #COVID19 vaccine. Dr. Landrum says about four people in a 40K people study suffered from Bell’s Palsy. He adds the low number suggests there’s no link between the two.
Part 1
On the numbers, there are less people getting tested but that may not be a “good” thing. Dr. Rai says some aren’t getting tested because they don’t want to miss work or family gatherings, some are misdiagnosing themselves thinking they have the flu or allergies...

Contact tracer Shinie Tho adds she sees more people testing positive because of hunting and the holidays.
Tho: About 50 cases right now from people who went hunting and then saw symptoms, and about 150 who gathered for Thanksgiving and then saw symptoms days/weeks later.
