the MLL and PLL merger, my thoughts:
In totality, this will be good for the sport. The animosity of league vs league was never between the players. The unity is a good look and one league gives aspiring athletes something to look forward to and work towards.
I hope the MLL personnel is not overlooked. I hope they find a home for as many people as possible in this new league. I hope there are more opportunities for employment. I hope unity goes beyond just the actual leagues merging.
I hope the PLL is able to appreciate, understand, and display the values and history that were once a huge part of the MLL. The best way to celebrate the sport of lacrosse is for this to be a union and not a takeover.
Players who want to play should play. With a surplus, it will be difficult to allow certain players to play bc of their name, their clout, or their social media presence as much more deserving athletes sit in the player pool. Talent matters.
This is an opportunity to gather everyone in one room to celebrate lacrosse together. That’s fans, players, their families, personnel, media, etc. This is a huge opportunity to grow the game. I’m eager to see what the future holds.
