Now that "their side" wields the power, they see no need to fight the power structures, which has led to their betrayal of their former heroes...
The problem, though, is that the tech oligarchs are not on "their side."
They are on the side of ruthless, perverse, "free market" capitalism and the ever-powerful State which protects them.

Social justice. They slapped a rainbow flag over their corporate social media accounts. It was that easy.

They rolled Assange and Snowden in with the "Russia" hysteria surrounding Trump. Hating whistleblowers became part of the liberal doctrine, along with hating Trump.
