The contortions Trump's Coup Clutz Plan are going through to fake-contest the election results have three main purposes:

1) To let MAGAts revel in liberal angst
2) To let Trump fleece his cult
3) To damage democracy

Let's briefly review, and plan for tomorrow.

Keep in mind, this theater was never intended to actually keep Trump in office. Trump lost the election, and that was clear by November 7, once the mail-in and absentee ballots were counted. It was over then, and the rest is sound and fury signifying nothing.

But the first desired goal has been met, which is to cause Democrats to run in circles waving their arms with their hair on fire. "Owning the libs" has been the goal of Cult45 even before Trump declared his candidacy. This matters more to them than their own lives, ...

... which we see by their willingness to contract a deadly disease just to make liberals cry. They've been at that for more than a decade--opposing healthcare, for instance, just because it would help people (including them).

Making us sad is their primary purpose in life.

We really should stop giving them that gift. Stop being angsty.

I'll come back to that.

The second goal is for Trump to fleece his flock. That's happening, to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. Trump's lining his pockets on the fundraising emails he sends.

Trump is raising more money on his fake legal battles than he did at any point in the campaign. Since this whole Apprentice Presidency was about grift, his profits now are the culmination of five years of effort.

Of. Course. he's gonna take them for all he can. Duh.

The third thing is the only one I take seriously (though the second may violate lots of laws and should be prosecuted).

Trump isn't gonna win any of his efforts to stay in power, and they were never meant to succeed. They were only meant to LOOK LIKE they could succeed.

Trump is undermining confidence in our democratic institutions and so undermining Western liberal democracy itself. That was the reason Putin installed Trump in the first place. Yes, Trump did it for the grift, but Trump is a mere puppet. Putin's project is to end America.

We've seen that throughout Trump's term. Every decision he made, every appointment, every time he fired someone or left vital positions open, all of it was intended to weaken America, from his criminally incompetent cabinet to his withdrawal from international treaties.

It's why Trump has refused to do anything about the COVID pandemic, why he invented insane issues like his racist Wall, why he tried so hard to kill Obamacare.

All of it was done, consciously, to weaken America.

We must take this seriously. All of it.

We must also take seriously the treasonous cooperation of the entire supine and supplicant Republican Party, which is no longer a political party so much as a sluglike mass of obedient lap-rats.

This isn't time for panicked arm-waving. Deny MAGAts all your liberal angst.

This is a time for cold, hard, clear-eyed purpose.

The only way to defeat this rolling coup is to stay involved, stay focused, move forward--and elect Democrats to every office in every state and hamlet in America.

There's a lot of work to do to repair the damage done by Trumpublican Reich. We have to rebuild what was damaged, and then shore up the weak spots they've revealed so this can never happen again.

But we can't govern if we don't win.

Do not listen to voices of division.

The only way we'll repair the nation is to remember democracy is a coalition. It is We The People working together. Isolating ourselves into the far-anything extreme will only guarantee we don't have the mass of voices we need to overcome fascism.

Be calm. Be resolute. Be not swayed from your purpose. From centrists to leftists, the only way to save America is to speak with one voice, to tell the forces of hate and destruction, "We shall tolerate your bigotry no more!"

Deny them your angst. Deny them division. Ignore their theater. But take seriously the destruction they cause, and do not, do not, =do not= feast on one another's flesh.

We stand united, or we die, and democracy dies with us.

PS Anyone telling you to primary an incumbent Democrat is not on our side. By definition, and "incumbent" knows how to get elected to that spot, and threatening an incumbent invites disaster.
