NOTE: I only read the headline.

It's important to know that in MD, if someone were to walk into and attempt to rob a 7-11, and the a cop kicked in the door and killed all 5 people in the 7-11, except the suspect, the suspect would be charged with 5 counts of 1st Degree Murder. https://twitter.com/BaltSunBrk/status/1339223111963709443
This is called the "felony murder rule" and it applies to *ANY* loss of life during the commission of a felony.

If you rob a store and someone *happens* to have a heart attack completely unrelated?

*You* can be charged w/First Degree Murder.
If a cop tries to intervene, and in the process kills the person who you were partnering with in the commission of the robbery?

*You,* not the cop, are charged with FIRST DEGREE MURDER.

This is true in all states except Hawaii, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Michigan.
It's also true in CALIFORNIA, but *ONLY* if the person who dies is a cop.

So if you try to rob a place, and a cop bursts through the door, and hypothetically, chokes on a donut he was eating –– even if you attempted the Heimlich on that cop –– you could be charged with Murder 1.
Think on police corruption:

You're a "good" cop, and you rat out somebody on the force for extorting Sex Workers.

Later, you and your partner respond to a robbery, you get shot in the head by partner?

The suspect, and *not* your partner, gets charged.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is that in the project of Defunding the police, we also need to #AbolishLEOBR and #RepealFelonyMurder.
