I have many, many thoughts https://twitter.com/kurtwagner8/status/1339219743337680897
I’ll start here...

Facebook, obvious champion for small businesses
Facebook: hey small businesses! create a page and build an audience of your customers to market to them!

Also Facebook, years later: hey small businesses! that audience of customers you spent time, money, and resources to build? Yeah now you need to pay us to talk to them
Using SMBs as a pawn to fight Apple during a pandemic that has crippled local business is one of the most shameless things Facebook has ever done
I promise you your local pizzeria isn’t using Facebook ads like Facebook is trying to claim

If they’re running ads at all, they’re boosting their posts locally — gated by radius — and will *maybe* layer on basic demographics like age, sex, and interests depending on the business https://twitter.com/lukedivita/status/1339224378702229505
These privacy changes will hurt targeting and ad capabilities of big businesses (like square) with complex ad campaigns (like square), which means it will affect facebook’s bottom line
Many small businesses run their whole operation on iOS devices — MacBooks for back office, website, inventory, etc.; iPads and iPhones for everything else: point of sale, communication, marketing, social media, etc.

Facebook can’t win this
Another great point

Good luck to those business owners if they have an issue with their account and need to speak with someone, it’s effectively impossible — I’ve seen this personally, sellers asking me to help with their ads or to help them get in touch with Facebook https://twitter.com/jigolden/status/1339225113707819008
These thoughts aren’t necessarily cohesive but I wrote this with one hand while jockeying with a toddler

tl;dr Facebook sucks and continues to step on rakes, goodbye
