Just shouting "lockdowns work" is meaningless. How do they "work"? It's obvious, if no one ever meets with anyone else, they can't transmit the virus. But what about the many healthcare workers, food delivery, supermarket, repair workers etc? Because they have to work.
So even a full lockdown will inevitably lead to some spread. But what is reducing spread doing? This is a seasonal, almost endemic virus. Delaying a few people getting the sniffles? All the while destroying the economy and livelihoods, and everyone's mental and physical health.
Lockdowns are fundamentally wrong, will not eradicate the disease and create more despair and ill health than they prevent. And this is just in the UK. The second hand damage from our hysteria affecting the world is even worse. People are going hungry here due to it, but in the
poorest countries in the world because of our shutdown of the economy millions are entering poverty and famine. All for a virus which even in a "let it rip"(horrific slur) scenario wouldn't lead to apocalyptic death numbers.
Who cares if "case" numbers are brought down? What about the big picture? If there was any attempt at weighing up the benefits Vs the costs of restrictions on our lives, there would be no contest.
