This is the story of an ancient religion Mithraism, originated from Sanātana Dharma and were celebrating the day of winter solstice as Pagan festival the birth of Mithra (Sun God) on 25th December. 1/n
After 11000 BCE, when the monsoons weakened, many groups of Dānavas (descendants of Rishi Kaśhyapa and his wife Danu) of the post Vedic era had migrated up to Greece via Afghanistan.

They were the worshippers of Adityas of the Rigvedic era (Varuṇa, Mitra, Aryaman, etc). 2/n
The common people from Afghanistan to East Europe prominently worshipped God Mithra (Mitra). Gradually, Mithra became synonymous to Surya (Sun).

Zarathushtra I’s monotheism also influenced the philosophy of the Mithra god worshippers of East Europe. 3/n
Thus, The Mithraism was born in East Europe and became a popular religion before the birth of Christianity.

The followers of Mithraism were celebrating the day of winter solstice as Pagan festival the birth of Mithra (Sun God) on 25th December by coming out from their home 4/n
in evening and dancing with lightening torches.

The Christians of Rome started celebrating the birthday of Jesus on 25 December although Jesus was born on 10th Jan 660 BCE with an objective to corrupt the traditional Pagan festival. 5/n
Thus an ancient vedic originated cultured religion faced its untimely death 2000 years ago on December 25.
