My appeal to all liberals: The RW fascists are NOT, repeat not , intellectually shallow as we think. Very few of them think, & to us they appear absurd, but 4 all that, their world view is deeply ground in philosophies very few pay attention to.

If you wanna fight them, first understand them.

Many of us have Hannah Arendt. Jason Stanley. These are liberal critics of Nazi philosophies. Reading is not the same as reading this who actually espoused the Nazi world view.

So here are 3 guys you must read.

Carl Schmitt.

Martin Heidegger

Friedrich Nietzsche.

If you are in a hurry start with Carl Schmitt. Trust me, there isn’t a snowball chance in hell of beating the fascists b4 a catastrophe hits us unless we understand & show them the practical limitation of their world view.

Most liberals that I see, and this includes Francis Fukuyama with his latest on identities, have missed the deep intellectual urges that powers the fascists and why it is a recurring pathology in human societies.

It is certainly not as shallow as Bhakts being stupid.

I am NOT exaggerating when I say that to the fascist, there is no difference between an internal enemy and an external one. In fact the internal enemy is more despicable than the external one b/c you can talk peace with the latter.

Fascists don’t distinguish politics from war.

Those who think genocide is unthinkable, please be warned. It is very much thinkable. In fact their philosophy at the root starts with who we are and the answer begins by defining who the enemy is because we are the enemy of our enemy.

They do not exists if there is no enemy.

If there is no enemy, they will create one, ready at hand, in order use them to define self to the laity.

You are witness to this effort over last 6.5 years. It has born solid fruit for them.
