Dr. Biden is a doctor. Full stop. When I learned accounting, the professor had a doctorate. He needed a MS to actually get a CPA license and advanced taxation.

The reason we are having this hoopla over Dr. Biden's credentials is because it's a fight against anti-intellectualism and an attempt to frame the argument that Democrats influence people to take on "useless degrees," even though Dr. Biden is a professor. She used her doctorate.
There is also honorary doctorates. These are handed out to people who do work that is notable. Guess who has an honorary doctorate. Donald Trump.
Donald Trump has 4 honorary doctorates: one from Lehigh University in the 80's, Wagner in 2004, and Liberty University in 2012 and 2017 (probably around the time he started the Birther Movement.) Note: He had 5, but Robert Gordon University stripped it over his Islamophobia.
Dr. Biden worked for her doctorate. Donald was given his four. Neil Gorsuch has a doctorate. Ben Sasse has a doctorate in History. Jody Hice has a doctorate in Ministry. Dr. Jill Biden has a doctorate in education where she taught English and Remedial Reading.
I find it also funny that the writer, Joseph Epstein, recieved a Bachelor of Arts, has no post graduate degree and recieved an honorary doctorate from Adelphi in 1988. Epstein has a history of anti-feminist writing and the Wall Street Journal should know this.
However, this opinion piece did what it needed to do. It was to minimize Dr. Biden's education and work as an English professor and give Republicans a talking point against college students and arts and humanities degrees despite us seeing we definitely need them.
