He’d been an advisor to two of Granholm’s controversial predecessors, John Engler (who recently mishandled a sex abuse investigation for MSU) and James Blanchard.

Raj Wiener was fond of boasting that Rick’s job as COO gave her direct access to Governor Granholm whenever their clients needed something. The family business grew as a result.

Raj was instrumental in helping Henry Ford Hospital and other Detroit hospitals circumvent regulations that prevented them from moving hospital beds from the city to the more prosperous White suburbs.
