For the first time, the new @europe_creative funding programme will have a specific focus on the music sector, particularly in the fields of contemporary and live music. This is the result of years of advocacy, discussion, experimentation and research work at EU level (1/8)
Exactly five years ago, the first meeting of the "AB Music Working Group" took place at @ABconcerts - One of many steps on the path of launching the "Music Moves Europe" initiative (2/8)
There were so many lobbying events and industry panels along the way that I've stopped counting, but this one was particularly instrumental to keep the momentum alive within @EPCulture and to spur the vote on the "Music Moves Europe" preparatory action (3/8)
A preparatory action which has been renewed multiple times thanks to the unflinching support of the EP, which made possible the last three years of work on pilot projects & technical studies, and enabled the sector to build solid cases for new schemes and bodies at EU level (4/8)
Now thanks to the determination of the Commission & the EP negotiating team, the final text of the new programme is clearly referencing the music sector as a priority. Hopefully the first step towards a genuine MEDIA-like funding scheme in the future (5/8) https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/press-room/20201211IPR93654/creative-europe-2-2-billion-eur-support-secured-for-artists
Many people have been involved in this process. Forgetting a lot of names but here's to @IMPALAMusic @BRUZZdirk @LiveDMA @SuHollmann @Kasiabinia @maxsmeriglio @javilopezEU @Creators_ECSA @elisephg @Arthur_LeGall @MartinClarke88 @corinne_agnes @legrandnetwork (6/8)
@BenjaminFeyen @MonicaSemedoLux @allstarspaul @sophie_goossens @KimenaiFrank @virgosillamaa @HSildna @sabineverheyen @halobrux @corinnesadki @mil_lisbon @Reeperbahn_Fest @EMC_IMC @oliviertura as well as early advocates like Peter Smidt & Jean-Marc Leclerc (7/8)
And obviously this important step would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the late Jean-François Michel. He would have loved to see this happening ! (8/8)
