Okay since my sensei used to call us students intellectuals and this message annoys me, let me do a quick (in)coherant thread further explaining the term 'fujoshi' and anons opinion https://twitter.com/itsayviral/status/1338901248607735811
Fujoshi 腐女子 comes from the kanji rotten - women - child. Literally rotten girl. Obv this way the connotation is bad, esp since its on purpose resemblance for the japanese word for respectable woman (aka contrasting that.)
Skimming through some japanese forums, many mention how they've been using the term for years but never thought much about the underlying meaning, yet they also want an alternative. It's an ongoing discussion (to another term, like 夢女性 which is a girl who likes bl/gl. 夢=dream
True to the anon's message, the term fujoshi isn't always used for just girls who like bl/yaoi. Somehow it's become a more general term for female otaku (lit. Geek) who just are part of fandoms/actively act out their interest (and maybe sexuality, though don't quote me on that.)
As for the feminism and lgbtq mention which I do not see any context for, the only connection is see/find is the fact that fujoshi often is misinterpret as a term for straight females who like bl.
Surely, this isn't the case (example nm 1: me) but it's an active discussion in the community and media/research. Please educate me if you know more about this.

In fact, when the term fujoshi was first taken from Japanese, it didn't have a bad connotation at all. Its only because media/public has been started evolving the term that its international bad connotation had surfaced.
fetishizer doesn't sit right with me either. Mostly because being a fujoshi and fetishizer are completely different things. Imo, you can be a fujoshi without being a fetishizer, so the term is not correct. On top of that, fetishizer has a more negative international meaning
Comparing fujoshi & otaku, both are simply Japanese words used by onl comm which have been adapted by gp. Both have bad meanings and good ones. In fact, if we see the word stan and simp, we use it so much but does anyone remember the fact that Stan is actually not a humbling word
I'm neither agreeing and disagreeing with what anon says, but I think it isn't something you can judge without context.
Afaik when I was scrolling the fujoshi section in Japan, nobody judged me out of disinterest or simple manners. And yes, the termf was used officially.

Using terms from a language we don't know is a common thing in language studies, it's just a normal thing and the word often gets its own new meaning when doing so. However, I wonder if anon is Japanese at all? Or studied the country for 4 years in uni like me and my peers whod
