For the first time, we’ve published new experimental estimates on “long COVID”, looking at the prevalence of, and risk factors for, symptoms and complications following #COVID19 infection.

This analysis will be refined and developed over time http://ow.ly/2bcL50CMNHh
Using data from our Coronavirus Infection Survey, our experimental results suggest that around 1 in 5 respondents testing positive for #COVID19 showed symptoms for 5 weeks or longer, and around 1 in 10 showed symptoms for 12 weeks or longer http://ow.ly/clVs50CMNJO
We provisionally estimate that during the week beginning 22 November 2020, around 186,000 people in private households in England were living with symptoms of long COVID that had persisted for between 5 and 12 weeks http://ow.ly/8KdQ50CMNNH
Our analysis of records for people in hospital with #COVID19 found that these patients had higher rates of metabolic, cardiovascular, kidney and liver disease diagnoses than similar patients not in hospital with #COVID19 http://ow.ly/earo50CMNR7
These estimates suggest a link that warrants further investigation.
