Schools reopened because of you. Your work has ensured they are as safe as they can be under the guidelines. Your work has kept children feeling safe and happy in incredibly difficult months.
You have spent a year learning. New things new approaches, new teaching.

You have exceeded the challenge. You've worked long hours, you've thought & worried if you were doing it right. You've adapted & changed & adapted back to something old but new.
You've worked holidays& weekends. You've dealt with the worries of your class and your community

All while dealing with your own worries. You may have felt scared, for you, for family. You may have lost someone. School may feel like you're whole life as its the only place you see others.
You may be VHR& working from home & dealing with the challenges that brings

You may made decisions with little support to keep your community safe, and you may have faced backlash for it. You may have questioned every decision you made 100 times.

Despite everything you have done, everything you have given, you still feel disrespected, taken for granted or ignored by the Department. Some of you may wonder if they even remember your role exists, mid pandemic.

I hope most of you will get a proper, 2 wk break. Time with family. Time to recharge.
Some won't though, some will work to manage outbreaks. Some will have to isolate. For those, solidarity. It's not OK it's not good enough. I hope you have some support from those around you

Strange year, an incredibly challenging one for all of us professionally.
Here's to 2021 being brighter. What you've done may never be appropriately acknowledged by the Dept, the media, the social media trolls. But kids, parents, colleagues, acknowledge it for each other

Don't let the attitude of those in charge diminish what you've achieved.
