A thread on my experience using Twitter:
As toxic & dangerous as social media can be, I wholeheartedly believe that getting involved on Twitter is one of the best decisions I’ve made thus far both professionally & personally.

Why? Friendships. Mentors. Brand development. Free flowing idea share from very bright folks.
Like anything else in life, Twitter is whatever you make of it.

Personally, it’s allowed me to cultivate a massive network within my industry and abroad. Industry vets, PMs, entrepreneurs, authors, trailblazers. Ppl I likely would’ve never gotten the chance to meet otherwise.
Once you realize the importance of relationships and brand equity in our business, the more of an asset that a platform like Twitter becomes.

Consistently broadcast your authentic self, and you’ll undoubtedly find an audience. Used strategically, the possibilities are endless.
Moving to a new city?

Looking for a new job?

Trying to grow your business?

In need of startup funding?

Career advice?

Simply want to learn?

You’ve come to the right place. You’ll almost definitely find what you’re looking for, or meet someone who can help!
I know several people who have obtained jobs, been booked for speaking events, become published authors, began new companies, and have been afforded countless other opportunities as a result of the relationships created on this platform.

How cool is that?!
That being said, social media is a double edged sword. It offers the ability for one to grow their career & personal brand, as well as the ability to destroy it. Be smart.

Your words DO follow you, and you will never be able to entirely take them back. So make them count.
The ability to remain anonymous on this platform is something that I find quite interesting. The color of your skin, gender, age, etc. doesn’t have to come into the equation. What u put into the twitterverse is what ppl will know. Simply being judged on the quality of ur thoughts.
Twitter being a microcosm of society in a way, I’d be remiss if I didn’t address its ugly side. There are bad people here. Luckily, u can decide whether or not to deal w/ them! Mean, hurtful accounts are (usually) exposed to the masses & dealt w/ accordingly.Don’t bother dwelling
The good of Twitter BY FAR outweighs the bad. Focus on the positives and pay no mind to the rest.
🚨U might become addicted to TWTR🚨

In that case, welcome to the club. U won’t even be mad. Ridiculously fast flow of news & other info, free idea share from brilliant ppl around the🌎, fun memes & the ability to talk to cool ppl you’d otherwise never have access to? Sign me up!
We get so used to posting our thoughts on here that we forget to stop & listen to opposing views. Listen to understand, instead of to react. We can all learn so much from listening to each other. It’s OK to change ur opinion when presented with additional info & POVs.
With social media, you are NEVER alone.

Feeling down? Someone here is willing to listen. I promise u that. I’ve made some of the closest relationships in my life today from this app, with genuine people who are here to pick u up when ur down. Just say the word. You’re not alone.
