The point of Enshou as the "main" antagonist of Silver Soul and why he did get a backstory, is to make him more unsympathetic. He got himself filled with jealousy for his brother, ending up betraying him.-

-tagonist for Silver Soul. Which is basically a culmination of the Yorozuya's influence, in Edo's people, and mainly, the antagonists. All sort of antagonists that did the same or more horrific acts like Enshou, ended up taking a stand and fight for what-

-truly matters. They decided to not make their mistakes a part of them anymore.
That's why Takasugi ending up Enshou is the perfect show-down since Takasugi was the main example of this "idea". Just like Takasugi wanted to kill Gintoki for being-

-the good side of him, Enshou is the complete opposite. He is what would happen if Takasugi would accepted that side of him in the past. Maybe Takasugi realized this, and after being reborn with Oboro's blood, he changed his main objective of *finishing*-

-Utsuro, to *saving* Utsuro.
I don't know if I explained myself correctly, but I really appreciated Enshou a lot more in this "rewatch"
