. @CFBPlayoff I'm not even going to consider watching any interviews or programming where you attempt to explain the inexplicable.

It was bad enough that the @UCFKnights had to win 25 straight games just to sniff a top-8 ranking, but this year is the final coffin nail. /thread
Please stop telling us that anything matters for any team that is not in a Power 5 conference. A team goes 13-0 to finish #7 in your final rankings, then wins another 8 in a row and only opens at #11 the next year, then wins FOUR more and makes it to #8.
OK, you want to screw us over under normal circumstances, I get it. Even this season, I knew that a @GoBearcatsFB team that was 6-0 and ranked #7 in the initial rankings would have work to do.

The Bearcats don't play the next two Saturdays and don't move an inch.
Alright fine, I see where this is going.

Texas A&M and @GoBearcatsFB open at 5 and 7 in the rankings. The next week the Aggies win and Cinci is idle, things don't change. Neither team has played since, but only Cinci dropped two spots in the rankings.
Here's where I get unhinged.

Georgia gets to pass Cinci because they got a win over a ranked opponent.

The ranked opponent was 5-3 and with wins against opponents with a combined record of 13-30 - they had no reason to be ranked beyond Georgia gaining a ranked win
Florida, in the meantime, loses AT HOME to a 3-5 LSU team who spent the last month losing to Bama, Auburn, and TAMU by an average of 41-12. The Gators lost to a team that was not just unranked, they couldn't even SEE the rankings from where they were located.
The result? Florida dropped from 6th to SEVENTH. There is no reason for UF dropping only one spot after a home loss to an awful opponent other than Alabama facing a top-10 opponent in the SEC title game (a SOS fudge that doesn't even matter for Bama)
This leaves a best-case scenario where the loser of Clemson/ND gets a "quality loss", as does the loser of ALA/UF, and the winner of ISU/OU gets a bigger bump.

Cinci's best case scenario now is a #6 finish and a pat on the butt, if they're lucky. This was always the goal.
The P5 doesn't keep power unless they tell the G5 "you tried your hardest, and see? You *almost* got in! You were so close!" Of course, the reality is that the 6th place window of the house looking in at the fireplace is the G5 ceiling.
And that's their ceiling even when they handle a global pandemic better and get to play more games.

P5 CCG participants' combined record: 71-10, with only Oregon outside the top 15

G5 CCG participants' combined record: 67-8, with only Cinci and CCU inside the top 15
Louisiana beat the current #6 and lost to the current #12, but is only #19, making either their ranking, ISU's ranking or both absurd. CCU has beaten two top-20 teams, but is the only team 10-0 or better ranked lower than #2
I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE the idea of a separate G5 playoff, but when those in charge are this blatantly dismissive of 50% of the people they allegedly represent, I'd rather take my ball and go elsewhere than pretend you kicking me in the nuts doesn't hurt.
It is glaringly evident now more than ever that the only way to ensure we are not forgotten is to do something unforgettable. Sitting around for five years praying that a system that excludes us magically changes their mind with zero impetus to do so is absurd.
Like a bad marriage where you admit that it's time to stop pretending like you have enough in common for staying together to be worth the effort, it may be time to drive this wedge fully and completely into the middle.
Separate from the bigger conferences and stop allowing what they decide to have any bearing on what the smaller conferences are trying to achieve. Maybe in the future things change and reunion is possible, but this path is no longer tenable. Separate Group of Five playoff it is.
