GANESHA TRUNK DIRECTION: SIGNIFICANCE

Ganesha is known for removing obstacles from life. He bestows material prosperity and wisdom to his devotees.
He uses his trunk to destroy obstacles. His trunk signifies flexibility and the ability to adapt and change with time.
@RudraVS
There are 3 types of Ganesha Murtis based on the direction of trunks. The key to judging the direction of trunk is to see the direction which the trunk has taken in the beginning (don’t see the direction which Ganesha trunk is pointing in the end)

1. Vamamukhi/Idampuri Vinayak: called Vastu Ganesha as it is said to remove vastu related problems in home. This left trunk Murti brings a sense of calm & happiness while stimulating success for its worshippers. The left side has qualities of Moon bringing about family bonding.
2. Dakshniaabimukhi Murti or Dakshin Murti is right sided and considered to have large amounts of energy surrounding it which can be too strong for one’s home. This Murti requires strict rituals of worship as it is associated with the power of the sun or Pingala Nadi
@DetheEsha
Siddhivinayak Mandir in Mumbai has trunk to the right. Siddhi, one of the wives of Ganpati resides to his right and hence, the Murti is called Siddhi Vinayaka. The right sided trunk stands for freedom from all worldly pleasures and the attainment of Moksha.

3. Sushumna Ganesh Murti- trunk in centre.
rarest but with deepest significance. It means that Sushumna Nadi is open and that there is complete oneness between all body senses n divinity is complete. It means kundalini shakti has reached the Sahasrara (crown chakra) permanently.
