The Aus published this piece by @rachelbaxendale on Monday, concerning transgender coverage at @theage under the editorship of @Gay_Alcorn.
The piece refers to @Gay_Alcorn citing my op-ed from last week to defend the newspaper’s record here. https://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/media/the-age-in-revolt-on-transgender-coverage/news-story/490a318cd964e09c3b4700e80c9217d8

I am alarmed about my piece being used to deflect criticism. One op-ed by a trans person in no way excuses or balances out the trend of hostile and factually incorrect coverage of trans issues.
As my op-ed argues, this is not a topic on which we need to balance trans & cis voices. Instead we need to a) centre trans voices & b) stop platforming ignorant cis ppl altogether. The existence of my piece does not make the profile of Moore ok — as @Gay_Alcorn seems to suggest.
My piece from last week: “Rather than rehashing the same outsider perspectives, it’s time for cisgender people to realise this isn’t about them. It’s time to give up the mic and sit in the audience.” I fear @Gay_Alcorn may have missed the point here. https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/debate-on-transgender-issue-has-one-thing-missing-20201207-p56l9i.html
In light of everything that's happened this week, I won't be writing for @theage or any Fairfax pubs again. I don't want to be used to conceal or justify TERFy discourse. And I cannot work with an organisation that would knowingly cause harm to the LGBTQIA+ community.
It's also a little ironic that I haven't yet been paid for last week's @theage op-ed -- even though the newspaper has been profiting from my piece by using it to deflect criticism.
