Sri Andal Shri Rangamannar Serthi Sevai Margazhi Srivilliputhur. Andal sang the tiruppavai songs (30 in no's) in the month of Margazhi.

“உஷஹ்காலே து ஸம்ப்ராப்தே போதயித்வா ஜகத்பதிம் ஸமர்ப்யர்ச்சய பஜேத் விஷ்ணும் ஜகதாம் தோஷ சாந்தயே .“
She basically imitated the gopikas who performed the katyayani vrata as shown in Bhagavata Purana, where it says:
"hemante prathame maase nandavraja-kumaarikaaH | cheruH havishyam bhunjaanaH kaatyaayani-archana-vratam." The first month of hemanta ritu is margashirsha or margazhi.
Krishna himself declares in the Bhagavad Geetha - maasaanaam maargasheersho’ham, meaning He is maargashira amongst the months. This indicates the greatness of the month. So the gopikas chose that month to observe the katyayana vrata to attain Krishna.
The fruit of the vrata is shown in the subsequent sloka:

kaatyaayani mahaamaaye mahaayogini adheesvari, nandagopa-sutam devi patim me kuru te namaH.

Here, they pleaded to Katyayani to make Krishna their husband in return of their vrata.
Andal had set her mind on Krishna & accepted only Krishna as her husband. She learnt about the gopikas who performed this vrata at Gokula. She imitated the whole thing. She considered herself a gopikaa girl, and considered Sri Villiputtur (her birth place) itself as Nandagokula.
She considered the temple of Sri Villiputtur itself as Nandagopa’s palace, and considered the lord therein - Vatapatra shaayi - as Krishna. She considered her entire circle of friends as other gopikaa girls and started imitating the entire story.
Therefore, she used to take everyone along with her and visit the temple in the early hours of Margazhi for her vrata. Thus was born the beautiful Tiruppavai in the month of Margazhi.
Reciting #thiruppavai in the month of margazhi is a remembrance of Andal’s deeds.
More than we remembering Andal, it is a way of reminding Krishna (or any form of Vishnu) about Andal, which was one of the sweetest memories for Him. That is why every temple has this recitation of Thiruppavai in the early hours throughout the Margazhi month.
Also, around the 30th day (or the last day of Margazhi), temples hold the ritual of Andal’s wedding with Krishna. This is popularly called Andal Kalyanam, which signifies her wedding with Krishna in accordance with what she sought with the tiruppavai vrata.
Not just that, the tiruppavai is replete with priceless gems of philosophical tenets. It is in fact considered as the seed for knowledge about the Vedas (vedam anaittukkum vitthu). Therefore, it is customary to enjoy the meanings of tiruppavai verses during the day.
