A Trauma thread
1/Flight/fight/freeze r common trauma responses. The ability 2 activate all 3 mechanisms is why ppl both survive & heal from trauma events. Much of this is genetic, biological (what we inherit as a stress response) & environment (what is modelled; trauma exposure)

4/This is the brain telling the body 2 “arm itself” 2 enable physical escape (flight) or defend itself against threat (fight). It makes sense flight/fight/freeze r all needed. Switching between dissociation & hyperarousal being critical survival & post trauma healing elements.
3/Freeze has dissociative elements which has the outcome of forcing the heart rate down 2 enable access 2 the higher level thinking part of the brain. This enables problem solving capacity is increased 2 ensure survival or planned escape. Flight/fight is the body in hyperarousal.
2/Post trauma occurs when cognitions become altered post trauma & the mind tells the body 2c threat (imagined rather than real). Essentially there is a “misfiring”; ensuring the flight/fight/freeze response is activated regardless of threat. Over time this becomes normalised
