1/5 #LTC Designated Care Partner makes Colour it dream come true. A thread: During the pandemic, Grey County’s three Long-Term Care Homes implemented a Designated Care Partner (DCP) program to ensure the social and emotional needs of our residents were met.
2/5 Each resident identified up to two people to be their DCPs. Following Ministry guidelines, DCPs are educated on infection prevention and provide proof of negative COVID-19 tests every 14 days.
3/5 During a care conference Rockwood Terrace resident Muriel H. mentioned a ballroom dancing lesson was always on her bucket list. As chance would have it, program staff quickly recognized that Jim, a DCP on the same wing as Muriel, was in fact a ballroom dancing instructor!
4/5 With Muriel’s consent and family support, staff worked with Jim to arrange private, COVID-safe ballroom dancing lesson.
On December 13th, Muriel arrived in full dress attire, donning a corsage and ready to meet her dance partner.

5/5 A panel of family judges watched outside and scored the couple’s dance routine, flashing “10s” across the board. Thanks to a willingness from Jim and staff to do something special, and by following all policy procedures, a distant dream was turned into reality! @GreyCounty
@fauldscat thought you would like this :) and @KafferJkaffer couldn’t have happened without the partnerships, innovation and collaboration we’ve discovered during a challenging time!
