Timo Werner. A thread

I haven’t been active lately but I can imagine there is a lot of Werner slander rn. Both from rivals and Chelsea fans. But it’s clear to see that some of you didn’t watch Timo at Leipzig

At Leipzig, he was never a ‘pure’ winger. He was in front two with Poulson but operated mainly on the left side. He would drop deep, link up play with Poulsen and help transition the play, and then get himself into a central position

In comparison, his Chelsea role is much different. He’s pretty much playing on the left touchline - something which he did not do at Leipzig

But some of you bring up the argument that playing out of position doesn’t warrant poor touches and misplaced passes. In reality, this isn’t always the case. Of course some bad passes and mainly down to him but some players aren’t good at receiving the ball so wide.

As a ‘pure’ LW, his primary job is to create chances. This means getting past players using skills etc. Timo hasn’t got much flair about him which evident when he plays. This is why he finds it difficult. As a CF, his job will be to score goals. This, he can do very well

Look at the Southampton game for example. Played as a CF and got two goals.
Of course I’m not trying to say his performances lately have been judged unfairly. He’s been very poor at times. However seeing some of you write him off already is ridiculous.

When he plays as CF, he’ll be a completely different player. Not a doubt in my mind. Until then, we need to deal with it and support him. Anyway th
