I spent all day at work on the phone doing exchanges/refunds & this is not a hot take on tiers/rules/whether theatres should be allowed be open, it is a love letter to the resilience & kindness of audiences. 1/
To the senior citizens that picked up the phone and said "I can do any matinee whenever you open", despite already having their tickets moved three times, I can't wait for you to finally experience being back in an auditorium. 2/
To the doctor trying to wrap your head around hypothetical dates I could not guarantee, I know that our phone call was about so much more than just theatre tickets. You just wanted to make sure you had something nice to look forward to that wouldn't be changed again. 3/
To the loyal locals that profusely apologised for asking refunds because you just didn't know about the future- it's OK. Things are uncertain. Before this pandemic, refunds were only ever demanded in ire. 4/
To the jolly voices that told me you're excited to book for something in the new year- YES! We're gonna need you! Your patronage AND your optimism! 5/
To the people that gave commiserations that I was having to do these phone calls- I'm lucky to have a job. Your understanding made my day easier. 6/
To the busy bees that couldn't answer the phone- you're doing great, spinning those plates. I'll call you tomorrow. /7
