Continuing theme of ground preparation.
This site was ploughed about 5 years ago - the colour & size (circa 1.5-1.8 metres) of the Spruce suggests that they have established well.
No post planting weed control.
For anyone interested in forestry ploughs - this is a single mould board - furrow is about 20 cm deep. More soil disturbance than a mounder but arguably cheaper & easier & safer to plant. Furrows need to be well planned & short to minimise any risk of sediment loss.
This is a double mould board - creates 2 planting positions from a wider furrow in a single pass. Similar depth, more soil disturbance - lower cost & easily planted, good rooting. Again, furrow alignment needs careful planning. IMHO on this design, tine depth needs to be reduced
Whichever technique you choose there will always be tradeoffs (between soil disturbance, tree establishment, carbon, speed, safety etc). Those tradeoffs will vary between locations, soil type, slope, weather & objectives etc. No simple answers, none are all bad or all good
