Keep in mind that Donald Trump is a reality TV star who employs literal Nazis before your hot take on how unqualified Pete is for this.

(Not saying he's the best possible choice, but he seems like a reasonably capable guy. POTUS? Not yet. Transportation Secretary? Sure, OK.) https://twitter.com/carlquintanilla/status/1338918911870431232
For that matter, I challenge the vast majority of people reading this to even name the previous Transportation Secretary without looking it up (I'm willing to accept that a lot of people know the current one is Elaine Chao, who's also Mitch McConnell's wife).
OK, several people have responded with Ray LaHood...which is incorrect!

LaHood was Obama's *first-term* Transportation Secretary.

His *second-term* pick was...Anthony R. Foxx, whose previous job was Mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina.

And let's be honest: The only reason most people remember LaHood as Transportation Secretary is because he was a Republican Congressman appointed by a Democratic President.
To clarify: I'm not saying that anyone can be thrown into Transportation regardless of qualifications; I'm just saying that if you couldn't even name Foxx 8 years ago it's a bit disingenuous to be railing against Buttigieg today.
FWIW, at 38, Anthony Foxx was the youngest mayor ever elected to Charlotte, as well as being the first Democratic mayor in 22 years.

Buttigieg was the 2nd-youngest mayor in South Bend's history at 29.
