Just because someone, even someone you follow or even a friend, has an opinion on something, maybe uses some buzzwords, doesn't mean you gotta hop on board with it. Do your own research, form your own opinions, and if you agree that's great!
But I see so many people get angry about things and, when asked why, they don't seem to know past some buzzwords and jokes and so on. Normally, when you see several people of a community mad about something, it's worth looking into. But pay attention.
It drives me wild when I see people spreading fires but when asked what's going on, why it's going on, they don't seem to know past a couple of words that have the unique ability to put people on edge on the automatic. It's alarming.
Anyway be upset, be loud, if you have a genuine, informed opinion on something. But if you yourself don't even bother to do your own research into something before getting mad, you are not only doing a disservice to yourself, but are also susceptible to being taken advantage of.
Even things I agree with I do my own research on. I like to be informed and know not only what I'm up against, but how to go against it, what tactics are most effective, and why it's a problem in the first place. I take genuine interest in it because it's necessary in the fight.
We're all emotionally raw and susceptible in these times, so please, take care of yourselves and know what you are engaging with before participating for your own health and the health of others.
One more thing. I say this kindly because when it comes to our own behaviors it can be hard to recognize negative trends. It's all good as long as you're working to be better. If you recognize yourself in this at all: good! There's no time like the present to learn to be mindful.
A lot of people lack self-awareness, which is really what this thread is about. No one is infallible and we can all do better.
