“For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,
so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” —Romans 8:3-4
I am comparing my notes the the orthodox view of Yeshua’s atonement with this. It’s very interesting. What I do agree with from this piece is that people will look at the first four verses of chapter 8 and say, “see? No Law!” but that isn’t the point Apostle Paul was making.
Apostle Paul was saying that Torah can not save us. Yahuah did by sending Yeshua. Yahuah sets us free from sin and death through the work of His Son, not Torah. Apostle Paul says over and over, that we are not justified by the works of Torah, not that Torah is evil and done with.
Torah was never created to save us. When people tried to live by Torah as a means for salvation, or when people assume others are trying to be saved by works— these are two groups who have NO understanding of what Torah is and why Yahuah created it.
It’s never a matter of being under Torah, because as followers of Yeshua, we are not subject to condemnation. That is what being under Torah means, condemnation. We shouldn’t worry about being under it when it is supposed to be written in our hearts.
Also if anyone needs scripture references for what I’m saying, I’m happy to provide that.
