I know we childless folk aren't supposed to give parents advice. But I'm gonna break the rules. These are few things which would have been good to hear regularly as a kid secretly struggling with same-sex feelings:

1. There is nothing you can do to make us love you less.
2. As much as we love you, God loves you more.
3. Sin has broken us all and made us all want to do things God says we shouldn't do.
4. We all deserve for God to be angry with us because of our sin.
5. God doesn't want to stay angry with us.
6. That's why God's Son, Jesus, came into the world.
7. On the Cross Jesus took all of the punishment sinners like us deserve for our sins.
8. God says if we call on Jesus as Lord and believe he died for our sins and rose from the grave, we will be saved.
9. When we believe in Jesus, it's because God has given us a new heart filled with desires to love and obey him.
10. Even though our "deep down" self becomes new, we still struggle with wanting to sin.
11. God doesn't promise to take away our struggles.
12. But he does promise to help us fight our sin.
13. He also promises to comfort us as we suffer for his sake.
14. Following Jesus is a hard life, but it is true life. It is lasting life. It is the only really good life.
It would have been good to hear the gospel.
