When in college, though my core passion is graphic design, I took textile design as my major. Along the way, I found lots of cross section between graphic & textile design.
One of them was coming from an article in a graphic magazine (1989 Step-by-Step Graphics Magazine), wrote about NY print designers Parham-Santana Inc. They designed Swatch’s wool apparel, with the procress is aligned more to graphic design process.
My dad, was a director for TV commercial & animation at that time, handed me the magazine and said “I think this article is a perfect example for both fields.” I was so excited at that time.
The intersection between two fields (more) completes my passion. Drawing by knitting, painting with yarn, animate with repeated pattern (full and half).
The mind becomes more complex, fluid + weird. Trying to create more possible intersection, like this full repeat animatic pattern.
Whether it's animation or pixel art, possible to print them as an apparel, cloth or any kind of textile surface https://society6.com/product/macpaint-project-nyc_pillow?sku=s6-9656134p26a18v129a25v193
Because for me, the goodness comes from the balance (between multiple fields). If it's good on computer screen, then it's also good on textile surface.
