SSWU Chicago stand in solidarity with @AnjanetteYoung, a Chicago social worker who was handcuffed naked and mistreated by CPD when they raided her home by mistake last February. Body cam footage from the raid was finally made public yesterday,
@cbschicago's coverage, which included images from body cam footage is horrifying.

Anjanette Young is a graduate of @thisisUIC @JaneAddamsColl who has spent her career creating professional and mentorship opportunities for other Black social workers.
CPD's horrific actions could have been completely avoided had they practiced basic due diligence about the inaccurate tip they received. CPD failed to do that, and nothing about their raid on Anjanette's home is excusable
Social workers are trained to have unconditional positive regard for clients. CPD's behavior would not have been justified if they had violently raided the "right" home, because everyone, regardless of what they are accused of, is entitled to constitutional due process
One of our members has been in touch with Anjanette, and we will keep you updated on additional ways to show solidarity. Please share her story and call on your social work institutions to show support for Anjanette.
