this side of twitter: believes in demonic activity and the supernatural in general

also this side of twitter: throws arround information hazards as if they were bedtime stories
ironically enough information hazards are a concept from fiction, but it's really interesting and it works out just fine in reality

vaguely it means that there are certain things where just knowing about their mere existence can lead to terrible consequences
there are also various real-world terms that describe a similar concept, i.e. tulpas, egregore or more classically, the self-fulfilling prophecy

in any case information can't be un-seen, which is what makes such hazards rather dangerous at least on a psychological level
content informs reality is the most powerful and the most dangerous of these

does content inform reality? well if you know it does, it certainly changes the way you act, so that means it does inform your actions, at the very least if you know about it

get the idea?
there is ofc more to it than just self-delusion and ofc you can't meme yourself into literally anything you want, but a great deal of content informs reality, even on the macro level, probably works through synchronous mass-delusion
another (less powerful) infohazard, that has already been exposed as such is the blackpill

being "blackpilled" does literally nothing but make your life miserable, and you can't un-blackpill yourself

it's basically just content that demoralizes, if I were to guess, classic CIA
ofc it is less potent, because even if you know about it, you can cope rather well by rejecting it, so it's not an infohazard in the truest sense, but blackpills themselves are certainly just packages of harmful information that you ought to stay away from
ofc every piece of fucked up imagery or video you see is in itself a bit of an infohazard because 1) you cant unsee it and 2) it fucks a bit with you

usually it's nothing that greatly affects people on a fundamental level though
statistics are a very obvious infohazard and I believe deliberately used in that way, though they don't work on everyone

but yes, many statistics are mainly there to blackpill a certain group and ofc they can't be unseen
I am reminded of a prof reading out a statistic on how few women are CEOs

the average guy in the room wasn't bothered too much by it, but you could see the life drain out of some of the girls eyes, it was almost as if they had given up that immediate second

goal achieved?
conspiracy theories are kind of an infohazard but not really

they require active work on your part to embrace so not really, but at the same time they are designed that they are not disprovable, so you can never have certainty, so it at least makes you a bit paranoid
the real important stuff is minor things that get thrown arround here mainly in the vitalist areas; most of the stuff about epigenetics or looks is designed as an infohazard, I wonder if it is deliberate or organic?
take for example people throwing arround something like

"your height/looks/frame is fucked because you consumed *insert evil food* in your youth"

and let's be real a lot of people are going to be at least somewhat worried by that and check for themselves
so what happens? they can't do anything about it, one can't turn back time, they may now feel insecure, less worthy or whatever, they may be resentful to their parents, they may measure their worth in some weird metric that nobody cares about

this can actually ruin people
and all it took was one little "nutrition redpill" that changed nothing about their lives other than what they thought about themselves

just lines of text on the internet, not even an implicit threat, no violence, no trauma

quite powerful wouldn't you say?
I mention vitalism specifically because to me it always comes across as "here is why we are abominations"

unlike other topics on here, that one seems to be on the masochistic side, I wonder if there is a sexual undertone to it aswell
