🧵 As part of my final exam in the Civil War Era @PSUHistory this semester, I assigned an un-essay: they could choose to write a twitter thread, create memes, or make a TikTok video about what they learned in this course. 1/
A major point of the class is to provide students with the tools to fight misconceptions, misinformation, and racism with what they learned during the semester. I haven't assigned an un-essay before but was inspired by lots of you #twitterstorians and your successes to try it 2/
One note: I encouraged (but did not require) students to post these on their social media accounts. (I also didn't require them to share the links with me; they could upload the videos/memes/tweets as standalone files.) 3/
Huge shout out to all of my students who gave their best and really inspired me even in the craziness of this difficult semester. With their permission I am sharing a few of their great un-essays. 4/
