Why do you think they hate Hillbilly Elegy so much? It's not just because it paints a portrait of compassion for a white population. It's because it massively exposes the Woke narrative as a fraud. The thing they call "cultural racism," which is key to "systemic racism," applies.
"Rednecks" and "hillbillies," the latter of which are unequivocally Appalachians, have been pointing out for years, if not decades, that they're the last ethic group who can be fully discriminated against culturally with no repercussions. If they weren't white, it would be racism
Meanwhile, most of the problems that plague "hillbilly" communities are cultural (and culturally protectionist) in the main and mirror the problems in black urban communities and some other ethnic communities in obvious ways. This disrupts the Woke narrative rather severely.
