/ Lots of hot takes on Apple Fitness+. From folks who train a lot and some who don't. From people who have a Peloton and those who don't. From people with an Apple Watch and those without. From Apple ecosystem nerds and those who aren't all in on Apple.
/ We do have a Peloton at our house, and I wear an Apple Watch. I exercise every day, sometimes going for runs, sometimes for a video trainer session, sometimes on the Peloton. I always track my activity with my Watch (and a Withings scale) - I've got 6+ yrs of data now.
/ Some thoughts on using Apple Fitness+ yesterday (sample size of 1!): First, it's really high production quality, but definitely not done yet, and will get better.

Second, it really helps to have a TV to see it on, with speakers that can get loud enough so you can hear it.
/ It *immediately* breathed life back into our old manual rowing machine, which has been sitting next to the Peloton, mostly unused for years. Rowing is super boring for me, but the workout on Fitness+ made it (nearly as) engaging as a Peloton ride, which is huge.
/ Lots of fun touches made it feel reactive -- being able to see my heart rate data next to the trainer on the screen was nice; lots of subtly nice animations help. But it is decidedly more inert than the Peloton experience, because for now it can't really tell what I'm doing.
/ IMHO the Peloton is the best "virtual reality" experience anyone's ever built. Not because it's high fidelity (it isn't) but because the experience of being on a bike, here, is just about as good as being in the studio in NYC with the trainer and others.
/ I'll definitely continue to use Fitness+ here, but it'll be as a part of what I do -- for maybe 1x/week row, for some stretching, occasional lifting. And that because I'm (1) part of the Apple ecosystem and (2) have the Apple bundle.
/ I'm skeptical that it will be a huge business for Apple as a standalone. Like a lot of what Apple's doing lately, it feels more like a component to strengthen the overall bundle more than a legit standalone business.
/ Which is why I think both that (1) Fitness+ will be around and good enough for a lot of people for a long time and (2) Peloton (and others) will have plenty of room to be amazing by being best in class, building a community of nerds, etc.
/ Overall, though: it's great to see things getting more sensors, devices talking to each other, and great to see the focus on health & wellness.
