Time for the latest news from Pfizer trial land! I described the fever, chills, body and joint aches, and fuzzy head and the nose laughed and said "well that pretty much unblinded you". So yes, I got vaccine.

For people who did get placebo, they're being offered the vaccine as it's being made available to them in the outside world OR when they get their six month visit, whichever comes first. So right now, only Healthcare workers who got placebo are being unblinded.

Anyway, my life is not changing a ton because I don't want to push it. I'm not going out to eat, I'm not having wild parties, etc etc.

I am however not really panicking if someone stands too close or is wandering around without a mask. (I still mask up myself when leaving the yurt)

It is winter and cold and masks keep your nose warm. Also immune people like me (or those who have had it) don't look any different from anyone else, so it's reassuring to other people and setting a good example.

It's important to note that getting the vaccine gives you the exact same serological immune profile as someone who has had COVID-19 and recovered from it, but the immune response to the vaccine is stronger than it is to the virus. Bodies are magic, man, don't ask me.

People are frequently concerned that those of us who have been vaccinated might still be able to carry the disease and pass it on to others. Broadly, sure, it's 95% effective so 5% of people will still get covid. But otherwise no, not any more than people who have recovered.

We know that reinfection by covid is VERY EXTREMELY RARE. We would know by know if it were being transmitted wholesale by people who had already recovered. There is no reason to think that vaccinated people are going to carry it.
