It's the midst of the holiday season and I'd like to suggest a few classic games, some with a twist to consider for gifts or just even some family time.

These are easy to find, affordable and great for some quality time spent around a table.

A short thread.
Jenga- There are so many variations you can play of this classic dex game.

My personal favorite is chess clock Jenga. We had a chess clock Jenga showdown on Thanksgiving and it was great. Plays quickly. High tension. Lots of laughs.

It's around $5 & you can paint to customize
Cribbage- It's one of my favorite classic games. A deck of cards and a cribbage board. You can find it for $10-15

It's perfect for playing while you enjoy some tea.

Want to play strip cribbage? Anytime your opponent scores 16+ points in a hand? Lose an article of clothing.
Backgammon- Under $20

This is our go to having a picnic or hanging at the beach game. There is a little more luck mixed in with die rolls though.

Strip variant if your partner rolls double 6s THEY take an item off. If you're getting pounded you can at least enjoy the view ;)
Cards- <$5 There are so many games that can be played with just a deck of cards. Poker, War, Blackjack, hearts, solitaire etc.

Bicycle actually has a great section of their website for how-to-playa of classic card games: https://bicyclecards.com/rules/

So many options out there.
Dice- $5 for ten

When my kids were small and needed to burn energy we would play dancing dice. You roll two die one (two different colors) one die would indicate time 2= 20 seconds etc. The other a dance move. We would mix up the dance moves, play some music and be silly.
Another energy burning variation is to use the second die for a workout move like jumping jacks, push ups, squats.

Especially good for these quarantimes when littles need to burn some energy and move their bodies indoors in safe ways.
My last addition for today is possibly the most difficult to find, but readily available at most FLGS & Targets: Go $30

Go is a high strategy abstract game that can really get your brain working. If your kids are as weird as mine they may pretend to eat the pieces though.
You don't have to spend a lot of money or have the new hotness to enjoy some gaming with your family this holiday season.

Classic games are approachable, they're fun and they can easily be mixed up a bit to feel fresh.

My goal is to have a cribbage showdown for NYE with mine.
