Observation 1:

It's possible that the @UKParliament has to be recalled to provide approval for legislation on a UK/EU treaty between Christmas and New Year if negotiations drag on past this week.
Observation 2:

The days running up to New Year also coincide with when the "flexibilities" on COVID restrictions expire in all four parts of the UK, because virus incidence is expected to spike.

There is guidance against non-essential travel. Scotland even has laws against it.
Observation 3:

The rules of @HouseofCommons currently do not allow MPs to participate in "substantive" proceedings (i.e. debates on motions/legislation) by remote means.

MPs can only participate in "scrutiny" proceedings remotely.

Admittedly, proxy votes still available.
