Imagine letting the demands of capitalism dictate whether or not you *allow* your under-5 year old BABY to sleep near you? Imagine thinking that "crying it out" and literally fighting against your baby's survival instinct (to stay near mama because SIDs is real) is a thing to do.
SIDs is less common in babies who sleep near their mothers or primary caregiver. Even just being in the same room offers a benefit. No, your 4 month old is NOT gonna sleep for 8 hours. Idgaf if someone you knew did. Average sleep block is btwn 4-6 hours for an infant.
And before you feel attacked or like you have to add extra frosting to my cake, don't. I am poor. I understand the many moving oppressive parts that have allowed this to happen to us. I am STILL firmly against crying it out. Treat a baby like a baby, stop tryna make them conform.
Your kids are gonna spend their whole life being forced to conform by various entities. Extra pressure for nonwhite/disabled/lgbtq children.

Put the crib in your room and buckle up. This is what you signed up for. Babies won't align to capitalism or adult demands.
Babies wake often so they don't die. It's as simple as that. They are tiny and they need you to survive, and they need to be checked on regularly. They dgaf about your 8 hours. Again: waking every few hours is a survival mechanism, like suckling, grasping, and cuteness.
