It’s impossible to consume every show, film, book, blog, livestream, etc

Time is precious, attention even more limited

If you make content, you are succeeding at capturing somebody’s attention away from an infinite amount of things that they could be consuming. Be proud of that
The truth of appeal as a content creator is just putting stuff out there and existing. You’re already ahead of the curve of all people that are alive by taking the steps necessary to put yourself out there

From there, it’s up to you to define what success means
I say this because of attention being more limited than time. Exposure for that attention is even more limited. No matter how big of a content creator you are or how viral something is, it is always true that somebody has never heard of you or taken time to watch it
The inverse is true, maybe even more so with how the numbers play out. If you have less than a thousand followers/subs, likely that a thousandth or tenth of a thousandth of possible people your content will be distributed to will reach them, less of them will consume its entirety
Growing as a content creator means increasing that potential audience and increasing that exposure. That’s literally it. There is nothing else but spooks associated with popularity besides machinations that help this growth such as word of mouth, the best form of growth
Processing these numbers is mind-boggling and difficult to fully comprehend. That’s the truth about not only social media, but a phenomenon called an: “oversaturated media landscape”

Bc of this, there can be consequences with making too much content! Wild to think about
This is the analytics of my Spook-busting thread that impressed and left a mark on quite a number of people. When I make threads like this that are impactful, these numbers are rather average for me, personally, to expect
My VTuber Guide was a most recent example of something I created that went above average with expectations of the average informative content that I make. As far as essays goes, this is about average performance with a new achievement of it being the highest average reading time
DISCLAIMER: I am not bragging by showing my analytics. I never am bragging when making informative posts like this. I’m trying to make a point. These numbers are contextual to me, my content, my branding, and me alone

I don’t look at analytics often bc it’s average for me
Despite these big, impressive numbers, the reality is that bc of the way I choose to brand myself, bc of the audiences and communities that I am trying to reach out to the way that I do, and bc of my non-tweet content being limited, the market funnel ensues much harsher than most
This is an intentional effect that I do myself to enforce filters since there are no “target audiences” options on twitter (nor would I trust such a functionality for organic reach and engagement)

Despite this, I reach the right people and consistently beat media oversaturation
Now, if I really wanted to grow much quicker, I would switch gears and have less harsh “filters” with curating my audience and aim to grow specific measurements like “engagement rate”, “read ratio” (for essays), even impressions by small percentages in short periods of time (KPI)
Mind you, this is just a marketer’s perspective to growth. Most people just do what they want, when they want to and see what happens and try to do it more often. This approach is honestly more than enough to get ahead of the curve

Either way, growth requires patience
The principle of the first tweet still applies. You are always fighting uphill. The more you grow, the more loyal audience members you have, the more discussion around you that you have, the easier that uphill battle becomes overtime

It’s humbling to know that battle never ends
I’ll end my rambling here

No matter how detail oriented you may be, no matter how carefree you may be, no matter how big or small you are, defining success in tangible, realistic ways that applies best to your situation and the media landscape is the best thing that you can do
