Love hearing @LornaMCampbell discussing the issue of "quality" when it comes to #oer. As a grad student, I was told repeatedly not to look at open access journals when publishing scholarly articles, but gatekeeping information behind paywalls limits access in damaging ways.
Since joining in with the UoE's Wikimedia activities, which seek to enhance information available through Wikipedia, I've realised that openness is something we should all strive towards with our research and resources. Locking things up in repositories does not make them better.
We talk a lot about inclusion in education technology and opening up access to resources is key to improving experience for both educators and learners.
Glad to see an acknowledgement of invisible labour in digital spaces in this panel discussion on openness at #altc as well. An important note that perhaps intersects with wider discussions on precarity, too.
