This is the key thing I’m trying to get folks to understand in my criticism of centering Black ppl in the PR rollout for the vaccine. But instead of focusing on how poverty, structural racism & chronic medical neglect caused COVID devastation in our communities & providing urgent plans for that, the past few wks have focused on racist tropes scapegoating Blk ppl as the reason vaccines might not be effective.
Nobody wants to hear that b/c folks want a heroic narrative about ousting Trump, getting a vaccine & returning to normal. But if you look at the data, the vaccine roll out plan & the timeline, that’s not what’s happening. COVID will surge in our communities thru phase 1, Jan-Mar
They know that & yet they are repeatedly telling us to our faces in no uncertain terms that have no plans to provide us the relief we need to survive & prevent the surge in the early months of 2021.
