A Message to supporters of accessibility and media preservation.

And Below is a selection of titles released on physical media this year in a commendable state that we would have no issue recommending.

✌🏼
First up is a selection of PlayStation 4 - 5 titles.
It goes without saying only one Next gen system can be crowned accessibility and preservation friendly currently due to the use of drm on the other. https://twitter.com/DoesItPlay1/status/1321837997294145536
- Final fantasy 7 by @SquareEnix

Despite being released at the start of a global pandemic this title not only shipped in a entirely functional state it also remained unpatched for several months after.

After the poor release of final fantasy 15 it’s great to see.
- The last of us part 2 @Naughty_Dog

Say what you will about the polarising story of the game, one thing cannot be ignored and that is the technical brilliance of the studio.

Aside from a few minor issues the game runs flawlessly on 7 year old hardware in its 1.00 version.
- Resident evil 3 @dev1_official

Another title released at the start of the global pandemic and another solid title which shipped with a 1.01 build already on the disc.

Ensuring gamers around the world received a fantastic build at a time where escapism was much needed.
- Control Ultimate edition @remedygames

Ignoring the incomplete Xbox edition this fantastic PS4 re-release fixes the glaring issues of the previous physical version and finally gives fans a version worthy of a space on your shelf.

And yes all dlc is on the disc.
- Ghost of tsushima @SuckerPunchProd

Minor sound bugs aside (splashy horse jumps in the 1.00) the game was released in a very good state.

Fully playable with minor issues, let’s hope for a ps5 / patched version in the future to correct these minor issues.
- Sackboy @SumoDigitalLtd

The PS4/5 versions of sackboy run near flawlessly in there 1.00 disc form, with only a few minor graphical issues or missing graphic elements (ps5 version)

Fully playable and very very enjoyable.
- Demon’s souls @bluepointgames

The 1.00 version of demon’s is the best game this year for quality of its disc code.

Unpatched the game is flawless with no visible issues or FPS drops.

Aside from online trophies the platinum is fully achievable offline.
- Crash 4 @ToysForBob

Crash 4 despite some FPS dips on base PS4 runs very well from its disc version especially bc on a ps5
- Nioh 2 @TeamNINJAStudio

The base game of nioh2 runs almost flawlessly without any patches, a complete version is being re-released on the ps5 in early 2021
- Doom Eternal @idSoftware

Despite early worries about a forced internet connection requirement Doom eternal runs incredibly well unpatched on current and next gen systems.

However Redeeming dlc will require a sign in for future use 😔
- Star Wars Squadrons @EA

Campaign runs great without patches, however what was really surprising was that most of the multiplayer was playable offline against bots!

Unfortunately the multiplayer progression is still online only but it's still is more than most games offer
- Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 @Activision

Even though the box says it requires a download, the entire game is on disc, runs great, and is a fantastic game too!
Immortals: Fenyx Rising @Ubisoft

Runs great off disc on PS5 at 60fps with features such as photo mode and M&K support as well

Even the Switch version is complete on cart, although that version does have some framerate issues at times
- Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 @SEGA

This one is one of @desgamesyt 's personal favorites this year. A great puzzle game & doesn't have any issues off disc either
- Ori & The Blind forest & Will Of The Wisps @iam8bit

This one is kinda cheating because this is supposed to be a list of the best PS games we've tested, but the Switch versions of both of these games are great and work great off cart, and I think they deserve appreciation!
