Run up to Christmas, money is a bit tight. And collecting means buying.

But it has been AGES since I sat back and just looked at a shirt I own. It's often about 'getting the next one'.

I thought it would be nice to delve into my collection and get to know the shirts. (1/7)
🇮🇹🦅 We start today by looking at Lazio 94-96 away. It doesn’t hold great history and was never part of any legendary football story – but is an example of what Umbro did wonderfully in the 90s. Breaking the mold in a brave, abstract but most of all fun way.
While today we see teams wearing a new fourth kit mid-season, this shirt - launched in '94 - served as the away kit for 2 seasons – those were the days.
Worn by the likes of Signori and Gaza during his final season, the side finished 94-95 season in second. Their best since '74.
Lazio where not the only team to use this Umbro template. Given the design looked like a magnified image of a deadly viral strain *satire* , it seemed to have appropriately spread throughout the continent. Teams from Ajax to Aberdeen adopted the similar looks in '94.
In the 90’s designers started using computerisation. Kits became glitchy. The Umbro logo was torn up and put back together in odd, shard-like ways. Today, we see Umbro develop that theme and centre their brand on it. Not always popular. But it started here. That is important.
Worth mentioning some stuff for anyone looking to get their 90’s Italian fix. Is it Sunday without a dose of Gazzetta Football? And when you have finished you can avoid work all week, as I am doing now, by watching these classics.

Tell me if you think it would be an awful idea to do more? 🤔

Thinking it would be a cheap way to chat about shirts when lots of people are hard up and might feel tempted to buy when they should not be.

And learn something cool too. đź’Ş
